Dogs will pull on a lead to show that they are eager to go for a walk or to show their dominance. Do not give in by starting a ''tug of war'', but rather train the dog not to pull on the leash. Forcing the dog to stop by you pulling back on the lead is not an option for training your dog, as this can amke the dog aggressive or even worse it can hurt your pet. Rather, when the pulling starts, stop walking. You can now bend down, grab the leash behind the dog's neck and gently pull it back or just hold it for a while. Once the dog has stopped, get it to sit and wait for your signal to start walking again. Doing this repeatedly shows the dog that your in charge and that pulling is not an option. Remember never to get physical with your dog and reward it if it does the right thing.
